The tubal reversal procedure is very safe. The main risk is the long term risk of an ectopic pregnancy, approximately 10-15%. However, the medical complication of an ectopic pregnancy (tubal rupture) can be prevented by Early Pregnancy Testing with serum HCG and vaginal ultrasound examination when the HCG level reaches 1500.
